No attempts have been made towards a totally automated Aerobus System (the previous answer explains why). There is, however, no reason why a well developed computerized software control system, such as SEL (now part of ALCATEL), or any other proven system, could not be adopted to Aerobus. SEL (originally Standard Electric Lorenz, a German ITT subsidiary) was one of the most successful parts of UTDC's Vancouver, Toronto, Detroit ALRT Systems. SEL controls are also being easily integrated with an otherwise poorly performing Docklands LRT system in London. SEL controls were also planned for the Los Angeles Green Line, as well as the Ankara subway and London's Jubilee line. All of these applications demonstrate that a good automated control system can be easily adapted to any conventional or proprietary vehicle system. There should be no major problems encountered in automating Aerobus.
